Portrait Artist Pamela Jaffe

Portrait Artist Pamela Jaffe

“My goal is to not only achieve an excellent likeness, but to also capture the subject’s unique spirit. This is the exciting challenge of portrait painting.”
                                            -Pamela Jaffe

About the Artist:
Pamela Jaffe has always known she would be a portrait painter. Ever since childhood she has displayed remarkable artistic abilities with a special talent for drawing faces.
A graduate of the University of Maryland with a degree in Fine Art, Pamela Jaffe desired to further her training in the art of portraiture, her passion. She studied with nationally renowned portrait artists working from live models. This enhanced her knowledge of skin-tones, color, form, light and shadow, all essential elements of a successful portrait. With her preferred medium of soft pastel, her portraits have a luminous quality about them and appear amazingly lifelike. Ms. Jaffe has received critical acclaim for her work and has been juried into the Maryland Pastel Society.

Client Comments:

"We are both so thrilled with the way the portrait turned out. My parents are actually making a special trip to the house tonight just see it. You should be very proud of your work. You are very talented and did a terrific job capturing my boy. I can not wait to start the next one! I really would like to thank you for your efforts. The portrait was everything I had hoped for."
-T.B.from Maryland

“Pam, thank you SO VERY much for making this Christmas one of the most special. My husband was totally surprised by the portraits (evidenced by the tears!) Your artwork is exact and beautiful”.
- C.D. Mt. Airy, MD

“Your portraits of my children are now framed, and, because they look so incredible, I have actually decided to redo some of the interior of the house in order to “do them justice.” You are amazingly talented!”
-J.F. Providence, R.I.

“My husband and I are delighted with the portraits. You have captured the true essence of both my daughter Pam and her daughter Taryn. I especially like the details, right down to the braids and rubber bands on the ends of Taryn’s hair. The colors and tones are also exactly right. When I took the pictures to the framer, he even remarked how beautiful and well done they were. His response was especially satisfying because his wife is also an artist. I’m not sure we can hold out until Christmas to present them!”
-S.G. Wake Forest, N.C.

“Thank you so much for doing Emma’s portrait. We’re so thrilled with it! I can’t wait to have Matthew’s done in two more years!”
-S.C. Wilmington, N.C.

“Oh Pamela!!! I am abso-bloomin-lutely in LOVE with the portrait!!!! You are an incredible artist! I called my mother immediately to let her know how perfect the portrait is. I can’t wait until it’s MY turn next year to have mine done! Great work! You rule!!!”
-R.M.G. Wakeforest, N.C.

Commission Process:
Portraits are done from photos. Whenever possible Pamela Jaffe prefers to work from her own photos. However due to logistical factors this is not always possible. Ms. Jaffe has successfully completed many portraits from photos supplied by the client, and will offer guidelines for taking no-flash, natural lighting photos. It is important to know that no costly photography equipment is needed to produce a high quality photograph that can be transformed into an exceptional pastel portrait.

Ms. Jaffe will work with the client to select the best reference photos. Upon agreement of which photo is to be used as reference, allow four to eight weeks for completion of the portrait. Once completed, a photocopy of the portrait will be sent or emailed to the client for approval. Any corrections will be made at this time. Once satisfied with the portrait, arrangements will be made for delivery.

Financial Arrangements:
A 30% deposit (check, money order, or credit card payments through Paypal.com) is required before portrait is begun. Balance is due upon client's satisfaction with the completed portrait. If portrait is to be shipped, the balance is due prior to shipping.
